WSSU’s Maynor Takes Top Coaching Honor

Durham, NC…The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s Executive Committee, in conjunction with the CIAA Football Coaches Association has selected Winston-Salem State University’s Connell Maynor at the 2011 CIAA Football Coach of the Year.  Maynor was officially recognized, this afternoon, at the Football Championship Awards Luncheon in Durham.

Maynor, in his second season with the Rams, has finished the regular season with an unblemished 10-0 overall record; 7-0 in the CIAA, a first for WSSU’s program since 1978.  Winston-Salem State has been on a climb to the top of the AFCA D-II Coaches Poll; having claimed the #4 rank this week.

The Rams captured the CIAA’s Southern Division title, and berth into the CIAA Football Championship Game; scheduled for this Saturday versus Elizabeth City State University.
