Lincoln's Green named ECAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Lincoln University junior defensive
end Tim Green (Fanwood, N.J./Scott-Plains-Fanwood HS) added to his
impressive offseason list of honors as he was selected to the
Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Football All-Star
Awards as the Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

A native of Fanwood, N.J., Green was selected to The Associated
Press Little All-American Team and earned the American
Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II All-American Team
honors and the awards keep coming after a breakout season where he
led Division II in sacks per game at 1.5.
Both NCAA Division II All-American honors are the first in Lincoln
University history.
On the defensive line, Green, a member of the All-CIAA Defensive
First Team, led the CIAA and NCAA Division II with 17 sacks for a
loss of 119 yards. He ranked tops in NCAA Division II in sacks by
averaging 1.50 per game and was second in the country in tackles
for loss, averaging 2.30 per contest. Green finished his junior
season with 56 tackles, including 42 solos. He registered a
team-high 23 tackles for a loss of 136 yards. He also added three
forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two pass breakups and one
safety.
One of the key anchors of the Lincoln defense, which ranked first
in NCAA Division II, Green recorded four sacks and nine tackles at
Kentucky State on Sept. 10. He had three sacks against Virginia
Union and Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Joining Green on the 2011 ECAC Football Division II All-Starts was
teammate and senior linebacker Daron Jones (Baltimore, Md./Cardinal
Gibbons HS).
Jones, a native of Baltimore, Md., had a spectacular senior season
for the Lions by finishing second on the team in tackles –
third in the CIAA in that category – with 110, including 70
solos. He racked up 13 tackles for a loss of 46 yards and recorded
seven sacks for a loss of 36 yards. Jones also registered three
pass breakups, two quarterback hurries and one forced fumble. He
led the secondary in points as he returned three interceptions for
touchdowns (at Kentucky State, vs. Virginia Union and vs.
Chowan).
