Comments: Markus Lawrence helped lead
the Winston-Salem State offense to 435 yards of total offense and a
punishing 278 rushing yards in their 35-7 win over
UNC-Pembroke.
RECEIVER (Wideouts/Tight Ends)
Robert Holland, Chowan University
Position: WR
Height: 6-3 Weight: 195 Class: Jr Hometown: Newport
News, VA
Comments: Holland caught 16 passes for
139 yards and three touchdowns to lead Chowan to a 38-35 victory
over Bowie State.
QUARTERBACK
Kameron Smith, Winston-Salem State University
Height: 5-11 Weight: 180 Class: R-Jr Hometown: Garner,
NC
Comments: Kameron Smith had a solid
afternoon in leading the WSSU offense. Smith rushed 11 times for 23
yards, and finished 20 of 27 passing for 157 yards and three
touchdowns in Winston-Salem State's 35-7 win over UNC-Pembroke. He
connected with a season high 12 different receivers in the
game.
OFFENSIVE BACK (Running back/Halfback/Fullback/Tailback)
Daronte McNeill, Elizabeth City State University
Position: TB
Height: 6-1 Weight: 205 Class: Jr Hometown: Elizabeth
City, NC
Comments: McNeill made history in
Saturday's win over Lincoln University. He became ECSU's all time
leading rusher; a mark that stands at 3,332 yards. Against the
Lions, he went for 186 yards on 38 carries and two rushing
touchdowns. His touchdowns logged for five and 36 yards. With
his totals on Saturday, he is the CIAA's leader in rushing, scoring
and scoring TDs.
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN
Dylan Steele, Johnson C. Smith University
Position: DE
Height: 6'4 Weight: 280 Class: So. Hometown: Orlando,
FL
Comments: Dylan Steele earned
Commemorative Classic Most Outstanding Player honors for JCSU in
the 31-0 win against Livingstone. He collected two tackles, a sack
for a loss of three yards, and an 81 yard interception return for a
touchdown. Steele picked off a pitch from the field goal holder off
a broken play.
LINEBACKER
Daron Jones, Lincoln University (PA)
Position: LB
Height: 5-10 Weight: 185 Class: SR Hometown: Baltimore,
Md.
Comments: Jones had a career day in
his final collegiate game. Despite Lincoln losing to ECSU, Jones
had 19 tackles, including 11 solo in a losing effort against the
Vikings. He also finished with one sack.

Marcus Skeen, Shaw University

188 Class: Sr.
Hometown: Thomasville, NC
Comments: Marcus Skeen had racked up seven
solo tackles in the Bears' 20-16 victory over cross-town rival
Saint Augustine's Falcons. He also had two interceptions, with
returns of a total of 33 yards, and broke up one pass. Skeen was
part of a defensive backfield that hauled in a total of seven
interceptions - a school record - against the conference's leading
passing offense.
ROOKIE
Doug Cook, Lincoln University (PA)
Position: QB
Height: 6-0 Weight: 170 Class: FR Hometown: Dania
Beach, Fla.
Comments: Cook was 21-of-42 for 232
yards in his passing attempts against Elizabeth City State He threw
for two touchdowns as the Lions fell to the Vikings.
SPECIALTY
Ryan Murphy, Chowan University
Position: K/P
Height: 5-7 Weight: 170 Class: So Hometown: New
Bern, NC
Comments: Murphy made his only field
goal attempt of the night, a 31 yard game winning kick with seven
seconds left to give Chowan the 38-35 win. Murphy also punted six
times for a 37.5 yard average. Two of those punts pinned the
Bulldogs inside their own 20.
COACH
Connell Maynor, Winston-Salem State University
Comments: Head Coach Connell Maynor
led the #4 ranked Winston-Salem State Rams to a 35-7 win over
UNC-Pembroke; capping off a 10-0 undefeated regular
season.
Notes of Interest:
Daronte McNeill became ECSU's all time leading rusher in Saturday's win over Lincoln. This junior has rushed for 3,332 yards.
This is the Winston-Salem State University Rams’ first
unbeaten regular season since 1978, when the head coach and current
athletic director, William "Bill" Hayes led the Rams to the CIAA
Crown.
Shaw’s seven interceptions against Saint Augustine's College’s two quarterbacks are a new school record.
