Comments: Holt anchored an offensive line
which allowed VUU runners to rush for 321 yards while Panther
quarterbacks tossed for 273 yards. Their 594 total offensive yards
were the second-most in school history.

Comments: Laughinghouse caught seven passes
for 109 yards and 3 TDs in a 32-27 win over Livingstone. He scored
on touchdown receptions from five, eight and 27 yards. His 27-yard
score in the fourth quarter gave the Falcons the breathing room
they needed to hold off Livingstone. He is tied for first in the
CIAA with seven TD catches, and tied for 10th in Division II in
scoring with an average of 10.0 points a game.

Comments: Kameron Smith continued his hot
hand and assault on CIAA opponents, going 13 for 15 for 259 yards
and five touchdowns, while only playing in the first half, in
Winston-Salem State's 63-7 blowout win over Johnson C.
Smith.

Comments: Washington broke the VUU school
record by rushing for 266 yards on 28 carries in VUU's 61-13 win
over Lincoln University on October 6. Washington's 266 yards broke
the VUU record of 260, set by Judge Thomas against Saint Paul's
College in 1976. Washington also rushed for two touchdowns in the
win.

Comments: Layeni was a terror on the
Bulldogs defense, racking up nine total tackles (8 solo), three
sacks (17 yards), four tackles for loss (22), three QB hurries and
one forced fumble.

Comments: Robinson had a game-high 12
tackles (7 solo, 5 assisted) against the Vikings on national
television. He added a tackle for a loss and recovered a fumble for
the VSU offense as the Vikings rallied late in the second
half.

Comments: Darnell Evans collected two
interceptions on two straight Fayetteville State offensive plays in
Shaw's 45-28 win over the Broncos on Saturday. His first
interception was returned for 48 yards and a touchdown, both
stopping the FSU drive and giving the Bears a 17-point lead in the
waning minutes of the game. His second interception was returned
for 17 yards. In all, defensively, Evans had seven tackles - five
of them solo - and the two interceptions. Evans also returned one
punt and one kickoff for a total of 30 yards.

Comments: Marquise Grizzle was an offensive
powerhouse for Shaw in their 45-28 win on Saturday afternoon. He
not only collected 163 yards rushing in the game - his third
straight 100-plus yard game - but also pulled in five passes for
103 yards. He scored one touchdown rushing and another as a
receiver and totaled 266 combined yards on the day; including two
touchdowns.

Comments: Jaski booted a pair of field goals
in the Lions’ loss. He connected on a 25-yarder in the first
quarter and booted a career-long 42-yard field goal as time expired
right before halftime. He had seven punts for 304 yards, averaging
43.4 yards a punt and had a long of 63.
COACH
Name: Damon Wilson
School: Bowie State
Comments: Wilson and the Bulldogs picked up
a huge Northern Division win, defeating the division leading Hawks
of Chowan 35-31 in the final 39 seconds of the game. This was
Wilson's first career win versus Chowan.
General Notes of Interest:
- St. Augustine’s, ranked first in the CIAA in rush defense, held Livingstone to 35 rushing yards. The Falcons gained a season-high 525 total offensive yards.
- Bowie State's Keith Brown rushed for a career-high 132 yards
and his 57 yard TD run vs. Chowan marked the second time he has
rushed for a TD of over 50 yards. Brown recorded a 76 yard TD at
Benedict (9/6).
