Lincoln's Green earns pair of preseason All-American honors
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Lincoln's Tim Green (Fanwood,
N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS) has already garnered some preseason
NCAA Division II football accolades, but he added to that list on
Tuesday.
Green was named to the Lindy's Sports College Football and to the
Beyond Sports Network's All-American Teams.
The senior defensive end led NCAA Division II statistically in
sacks and was Lincoln's first-ever Division II All-American,
grabbing the honors from the American Football Coaches Association
(AFCA), the Associated Press Little All-American Team and
D2football.com (honorable mention).
An All-CIAA first team performer and an ECAC Co-Defensive Player of
the Year, Green was fourth on the team in tackles in 2011 with 56,
including 43 solo stops. He added 15 quarterback hurries, three
forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two pass breakups and one
safety.
Green was tabbed last week as one of three players to watch in the
CIAA by getrealfootball.com.
Matthew Coston (Queens, N.Y./Dover HS) was named to the Beyond
Sport Network's All-American Team as an honorable mention
selection. Coston, who ranked third in receiving yards per game and
fifth in receptions per game in the CIAA, led the Lions in scoring
with 42 points. He caught 54 passes for a team-high 821 yards,
averaging 15.2 yards per catch. Coston added seven touchdowns.
The Lions open the 2012 season with the Battle of the First game
against rival Cheyney at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1.
