Devan Hill Joins CU Staff
MURFREESBORO, NC- Devan Hill has been added to the Chowan
University football coaching staff. Hill enters his first
season with the Hawks, and will serve as an assistant coach,
working primarily with the cornerbacks.
Prior to coming to Chowan, Hill served as Defensive Back Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at his alma mater, Hampton University. He worked with special teams as well, and was responsible for recruiting student-athletes in the Carolina's, Florida, and Virginia as well as junior college transfers. Hill served in that capacity from 2009-2013.
Hill obtained in internship in the summer of 2012 with the Pittsburgh Steelers organization under Mike Tomlin where he assisted with defensive backs, special teams, and quality control.
Before transitioning into coaching defensive backs and special teams, he served as Linebacker Coach, and worked with nickel and dime backs from 2007 and 2009. During that time Hill also worked with special teams while working as the team's liaison between compliance and sports information.
Over the course of his career at Hampton, Hill has coached 12 All-Conference Defensive Backs and Line Backers, 10 of which joined the professional ranks, and 5 All-Americans. Hampton's squad ranked in the top five in pass defense and pass defense efficiency six out of nine years as a member of the Football Championship Subdivision.
As a player at Hampton, Hill was part of the 1997 and 1998 MEAC Championship team. He was also a member of the 1992 State Championship Team at Bethel High School.
Hill resides in Murfreesboro.
