Player of the Week - Notes of Interest
Nelson averaged 19.5 points over two games this week, with a 26 point outing of Fayetteville State, 69-64. He helped the Hawks to a 2-0 week.  Nelson scored 13 points and dished out 6 assists in an 84-60 win over Elizabeth City State University on Saturday to improve the Hawks to 12-4, 8-2. The Hawks remain unbeaten in the month of January.

Newcomer of the Week - Notes of Interest
Caruthers had two good games this week for the Blue Bears. He played big minutes for the Blue Bears off the bench in their victory over Lincoln (PA), which snapped a three-game losing skid. 

 

Coach of the Week
Lonnie Blow, Jr., Saint Augustine's College
Coach Blow led the Falcons to a 2-0 record this week, including big wins over Eliabeth City State (59-56 at home) and Bowie State (75-71 at Bowie). The Falcons are tied for the best conference record (8-2) and have the best overall record (13-3) in the CIAA.

Boston had a breakout game against Lincoln (PA) on Monday when she scored a career-high 19 points against the Lions. She played a big part in helping the Blue Bears score the second-most points in school history and snap a two-game losing streak.

Coach of the Week
Donna Polk, Bowie State University 
Second-year head coach Donna Polk guided the Bowie State Lady Bulldogs to a road win over Johnson C. Smith (49-36) and took down the Lady Falcons of Saint Augustine's College at home (52-37) to go undefeated for the week and improve their record to 9-2 in the CIAA (9-4 overall).
