July 14, 2010
(BOWIE, Md.) Men's basketball assistant coach Ahmad Dorsett has departed Bowie State University for the same position at Division I Mount St. Mary's University (Emmitsburg, Md.).
"We're extremely happy for Coach Dorsett, will miss him but wish he and his family all the best", said head coach Darrell Brooks. Brooks went on to say, "This is a well deserved promotion. The Mount is getting a guy that works hard, is passionate and knowledgeable about the business of basketball and I'm sure he'll do a tremendous job".
Dorsett joined the Bowie State staff in 2009 after spending one year at (Division II) Mount Olive College assisting first year head coach Joey Higginbotham in guiding the Trojans to their second consecutive regular season title.
Prior to joining the Trojans, a member of the Carolinas Conference, Dorsett spent four seasons as head coach at Freedom High School (Woodbridge, Va.), leading the Eagles to two conference championships, three regional playoff appearances, a state semi-final appearance and two Coach of the Year honors.
