Shaw's Raheem Smith and Saint Aug’s Shaun Washum Selected To Play In Black College All-Star Classic

Washum of Saint Augustine’s College have been selected to
play in the Eighth Annual Historic Black College All-Star Classic
to be held April 23 in Columbus, GA.
The Classic, which starts at 7:45 p.m., showcases the
nation’s top 24 men’s basketball seniors from
historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). They get a
chance to display their talents in front of fans as well as NBA and
international scouts.
Smith, who was named First Team All-CIAA, finished the season
averaging 19.6 points per game while guiding the Bears to a 23-9
record and a win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Washum, a three-year letterman for the Falcons was a key player as
a junior on the 2009-10 CIAA championship team which set modern
school records for victories (27) and winning percentage (85
percent). He made the All-CIAA Tournament team after helping the
Falcons win their second league crown in school history. His 56
percent field-goal shooting led the Falcons that season.
A 6-6 athletic player with slick moves around the basket, Washum
was the team’s second leading scorer (10.0 ppg) and rebounder
(4.7 rpg) as a senior. He ended the regular season with a
career-high 27 points in addition to 10 rebounds against crosstown
rival Shaw on Feb. 26. Washum is a human performance & wellness
major.
