Luqman Jaaber Named Head Men's Basketball Coach at Virginia Union

Virginia Union University named Luqman Jaaber to become the eighth coach in the history of the VUU men's basketball program, it was announced at a press conference in the Wilder Library on March 30.

Jaaber was introduced as the Panthers' head coach by VUU
President Dr. Claude G. Perkins and Athletic Director Michael
Bailey.
Jaaber, 30, had been an assistant coach for the VUU men's
basketball team in 2008-09 and 2009-10 and was the captain of VUU's
2005 National Championship Basketball Team.
Jaaber, a native of Richmond, Va., was a two-time CIAA Male
Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a three-year starter for the
Panthers. He is the career leader at Virginia Union with 446
steals and 276 steals. He also scored 1,112 points during his
career at VUU.
He led the nation with 103 steals in 2003-04 and led the nation
with an 89.9% free throw percentage in 2004-05.
VUU tips off the 2011-12 basketball season on November 11 with a
match-up against Clarion in California, Pa.
