Player of the Week - Notes of Interest:

Harper fell one rebound short, in a win over Division I Maryland Eastern Shore, of posting three double-doubles this week.

Her 21 rebounds against JCSU were a career best and she posted 17 points and 11 rebounds in ECSU's CIAA opener, a 70-59

road win over Livingstone. Her 20 point, 21 rebound outing topped all players in the game against JCSU.

Newcomer of the Week - Notes of Interest:

Sequoyah Griffin had a breakout game for the Lady Bears with a double-double that helped lift Shaw past Virginia State

73-60 in the squad's CIAA opener. With 12 points and 10 rebounds, she led both squads in rebounding.

COACH OF THE WEEK

Vanessa Taylor, Johnson C. Smith University 
Vanessa Taylor is impressively becoming the gold standard of coaching in the CIAA. This week, her team picked up two conference wins at home over Chowan and Elizabeth City State. JCSU topped Chowan by 34 points and ECSU by 20. The Golden Bulls are in 1st place in the league with an overall record of 9-3 and a 3-0 CIAA mark. The team is 6-1 at home and has won their last three contests.

JCSU has no particular superstar; there has been a different leading scorer in the last four games.

WyKevin Bazemore had a breakout game in leading the WSSU Rams to a 67-66 win over Virginia Union. His 24 points and 17 rebounds

are all career highs, and his free throw with four seconds remaining put the Rams ahead for the game winning point.

Malik Alvin equaled his season high with 28 points in Shaw's CIAA opener against Virginia State. His 28 points and four steals

helped power Shaw past VSU 95-70. He shot an impressive 11 for 16 from the floor, including four of five from the three-point line.
