Shaw to Host Atlantic Region No.1 Men’s Tennis Tournament

(Raleigh, NC) - Seven-time CIAA champion Shaw University will host the Atlantic Region No. 1 men’s tennis tournament May 1-2 at Biltmore Hills Community Center Tennis Courts in Raleigh, N.C. The site is located at 2615 Fitzgerald Drive.

Action starts May 1 at Ten in the morning with a match between fourth-seed Bluefield State (15-9 overall) and fifth-seed Winston-Salem State (17-12), which lost to Shaw 5-0 in the CIAA championship match last weekend. Bluefield State defeated WSSU 5-0 in the regular season.

The winner of the Bluefield State-WSSU match takes on the top-seed Bears (24-1) on May 2 at Ten in the morning. The Bears had their way against both teams this season. They beat Bluefield State 5-0 and WSSU three times by scores of 8-1, 5-1, and 5-0.
