USTA/VA Names VUU's Guy Walton Coach of the Year

Virginia Union University's men's and women's tennis coach Guy Walton has been named the USTA/Virginia College Coach of the Year by the USTA/VA.

Walton was given the award during the annual USTA/VA luncheon on October 29.

The luncheon and awards ceremony kicked off with the announcement of USTA providing a $100,000 grant to the city of Richmond to grow youth tennis in the area. Keynote speaker, Roy “Emmo” Emerson, the most prolific Grand Slam title holder in the history of tennis, with an astonishing record of 28 Grand Slam championship crowns, spoke about his career and what it takes to excel both on and off court. A question & answer session, meet & greet and autograph signing with Emerson wrapped up the event.
