Shaw Men's Tennis Ends Season With a Loss To #6 Hawaii Pacific

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  - Shaw University men's tennis ended its season with a 5-0 loss to #6 Hawaii Pacific in the round of 16 at the NCAA Tournament held at the Top Gun Tennis Facility.
 
The Bears, who finish their season with a 27-3 mark, lost all three doubles, even with an outstanding performance from the number three doubles team of Artur Latypov and Andre Monti gutting out an 8-4 loss.
 
The  number one doubles team of Juan Sanchez and Charles Silva was defeated 8-2 by the fourth-ranked doubles team in the nation:  Patric Guenther and Petr Michnev.  
 
Down 3-0 going into the men's singles, the Bears needed to capture five of the six singles matches to win the best-of-nine format competition.  Juan Sanchez went down quickly in the number five singles slot, losing to Adriana Locorotondo, 6-0, 6-0.
 
The Sea Warriors closed out the match when Michnev - the eighth ranked singles player in the nation - defeated Artur Latypov in the number one singles slot, 6-1, 6-0.
 
Hawaii Pacific, 15-4, continues their season tomorrow, competing in the Elite Eight.
