CIAA Softball All-Conference and Rookie Honors Celebrated at Softball Social

Petersburg, VA… The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced
its All-CIAA and Rookie Teams and Players of the Year at the Softball Social
held at Jones Dining Hall on the campus of Virginia State University Thursday
afternoon.
Softball Player of the Year, Clarisse Steans of North Carolina Central University
and Rookie of the Year, Melissa Cordevant of Fayetteville State University
were honored by the CIAA Softball Coaches Association. Steans, a sophomore,
pitcher from Macon, GA, has also been named to the All-CIAA Softball Team.
Clarisse leads the CIAA in victories and appearances with 21 and 31 respectively.
She also leads the conference in strike-outs with 150.
Freshman pitcher, Cordevant hails from Broadway, NC. Melissa has 99 strike-outs
for the regular season, ranking 4th in the conference representing the Lady
Broncos.
