BOWIE STATE RETURNS TO NCAA SOFTBALL REGION

Lady Bulldogs To Face PSAC Champion Lock Haven

(INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - May 4, 2008)  The NCAA Division II Softball Committee selected the 64 teams that will participate in the 2008 NCAA Division II Softball Regional Championships. The two-time CIAA Champions of Bowie State University make their second consecutive post season appearance and are seeded 8th in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  The Lady Bulldogs will face the regions top seed, the Lady Eagles of Lock Haven (PA) University in opening round action.

Bowie State will enter the regional with a record of 25-12 while Lock Haven, the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champion, will enter the game with a record of 43-6.  Bowie State and Lock Haven will be game two when play begins Wednesday (5/7) at Kutztown (PA) University's North Campus Field at 11:30 a.m.

In other Mid-Atlantic region games, California (PA) (#4) will take on West Chester (#5) in Thursday's opening game at 9 a.m., followed by BSU and LU.  Bloomsburg (#2) will battle with Slippery Rock (#7) in the third game of the afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. and host Kutztown (#3) will face Shippensburg (#6) at 4:30 p.m.  Tickets prices are $4 for Students and Senior Citizens and $8 for Adults.

Eight teams will participate at each of eight regional sites in double-elimination tournaments to determine the final eight championship participants. Regional competition will be held May 7-11.
