Chowan Softball Set to Make First NCAA DII Tournament Appearance

Hawks to play #1 Bloomsburg University in NCAA Atlantic Regionals

MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University softball team will play in the program's first-ever NCAA DII tournament when they travel to the Atlantic Regional Tournament this Friday, May 14th. The Hawks garnered the #8 seed after claiming the 2010 CIAA Conference Championship April 17th over three-time defending champions, Bowie State University. Chowan will face off against top seeded Bloomsburg University, who is making their 28th straight NCAA post season appearance, an NCAA record. The Atlantic Regional Tournament is being hosted at two sites, Bloomsburg University and California University-PA. The Hawks will travel to Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania where they will play in the double-elimination tournament with #1 Bloomsburg (44-5), West Virginia Wesleyan (42-10), and #5 Indiana University-PA (34-10). 

#2 California-PA (34-12) will host #7 Fairmont State (33-18) in the other side of the Atlantic Regional Tournament. #3 Kutztown University (41-16) and #6 Shepherd University (35-14).
