Chowan Softball Earns Seventh Highest GPA in NCAA Division II

STARKVILLE, MS – The 2010-2011
Chowan University Softball team had the seventh highest team GPA in
all of Division II last year. The National Fastpitch Coaches
Association (NFCA), released their Top Ten All-Academic teams on
Wednesday, and the Hawks came in seventh place with a 3.435
GPA.
“This recognition embodies the spirit of NCAA DII
athletics. Our student-athletes make a commitment to
academics and balance a winning tradition on the field,” said
Head Coach Amanda Balduf. “I am so honored and
privileged to work with women who take pride in excelling in the
classroom. This program has high standards on and off the
field. This is a true picture of the quality of
student-athlete we recruit in our program. I am beyond proud
this team for believing in the process and taking this program to
new heights.”
Chowan placed eight team members on the Academic All-American team
last year. To be recognized for this honor, student-athletes
must have a 3.6 GPA.
The University of Central Missouri topped the Division II list with
