The time that Saint Augustine’s College ran in the men’s 4x400-meter Championship of America relay race Saturday (April 25) in the 2009 Penn Relays turned out to be a NCAA Division II national record in track and field.

The Falcons crossed the finish line in 3:02.10 which also is a school record. According to U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) website, the Falcons broke a 25-year old mark of 3:03.38 set by Abilene Christian in 1984.

On Saturday, the Falcon foursome of Rashaud Johnston (Sr./St. Louis, Mo.), Antonio Abney (Soph./Willingboro, N.J.), Randy Curry (Sr./Atlanta, Ga.) and Josh Scott (Soph./Winter Haven, Fla.) finished second behind Florida State, which won in 3:01.54.

Six of the seven teams running in the 4x400 finals were from major Division I colleges except for the Division II Falcons.
