St. Aug's Pierre, Scott, Williams Win Indoor Track

Williams of Saint Augustine’s College were honored regionally
by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
on Friday.
Pierre (Sr./Winter Haven, Fla.) was named women’s track
co-athlete of the year in the Atlantic Region. The national leader
in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes this season, Pierre is gunning
for an unprecedented fourth consecutive national title in the 60
meters.
Pierre ran a personal best 7.18 seconds in the 60 meters this
season which is among the best ever in Division II. Her time of
23.88 seconds is tops in the nation in the 200. She won the CIAA
title in both the 60 and 200 this season.
Scott (Jr./Winter Haven, Fla.) was chosen Atlantic Region
men’s track athlete of the year. He is the national leader
this season in the 200 meters (21.30 seconds) and the 400 meters
(47.38 seconds).
Scott is the defending national champion in both the 200 and 400.
He also is part of the defending champion 4x400-meter relay team,
which ranks first in Division II this season (3:10.44).
Williams was selected men’s head coach of the year in the
Atlantic Region. He has guided Saint Augustine’s College to
30 NCAA Division II national championships, including 11
men’s indoor crowns. The Falcons are the two-time men’s
defending national champions. They recently won the CIAA indoor
men’s and women’s titles.
