Scott Highlighted In Sports Illustrated Magazine
April 7, 2010
Standout sprinter Josh Scott (Jr./Winter Haven, Fla.) of Saint
Augustine’s College is one of six student-athletes featured
in the April 5 issue of Sports Illustrated magazine in the Faces In
The Crowd section.
“I am surprised,” Scott said. “My brother has
been in the magazine before, but I never thought I would be in it.
It is an honor.”
Scott is mentioned for his indoor track and field exploits in 2010.
He was named NCAA Division II indoor track athlete of the year
after winning the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes in record fashion
and anchoring the winning 4x400 relay team at the 2010 NCAA
Division II Indoor Championships for a second straight year. His
times of 20.91 seconds in the 200 and 46.05 seconds in the 400 set
meet records.
Acclaimed track and field head coach George Williams says Scott is
very deserving of being in the magazine. He adds that Scott has the
talent and attitude to go far in the sport.
“He is a coachable guy,” said Williams, who has guided
Saint Augustine’s College to 30 NCAA Division II track and
field championships. “If he continues to do well, Scott will
be on a national team.”
In addition to being in Sports Illustrated, Scott is also on the
magazine’s website. Click on to http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/scorecard/faces/2010/04/05/

College to be mentioned in Sports Illustrated in five months.
Barbara Pierre was featured in Faces in the Crowd in the Nov. 23,
2009 issue.
