Williams Named Atlantic Region Men’s Track Coach of the Year

Acclaimed head coach George Williams of Saint Augustine’s
College was selected Division II Atlantic Region men’s
outdoor track and field head coach of the year Monday. The
announcement was made by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross
Country Coaches Association.
Williams has led the Falcons to the CIAA men’s outdoor
championship and a No. 1 national ranking heading into this
weekend’s NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field
Championships. Williams has guided Saint Augustine’s
College to 30 NCAA Division II titles during his 34-year coaching
career.
The Falcons have 19 entries in the men’s division which is
the most of any men’s team competing this weekend. The NCAA
Division II Championships will be held Thursday through Saturday at
Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C.
