USTFCCCA All-Academic Status Earned by 34 Teams

New Orleans, LA – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the men’s 2010 Division II All-Academic Track & Field Teams. A total of 34 institutions, including Johnson C. Smith University, earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better.

Slippery Rock reported the highest GPA in the nation at 3.58. Johnson C. Smith had the second-best cumulative team grade point average in the nation at 3.53.

The men’s track & field team at Ashland University swept indoor and outdoor Scholar Team of the Year honors in Division II for the second-consecutive year. The Eagles earned both awards as a result of being the highest-placing teams with at least a 3.00-cumulative GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championship, respectively.

“Our program truly values academics, so to be recognized by the association (USTFCCCA) as one of the elite academic track and field clubs is an honor,” said head track and field coach Lennox Graham. “Johnson C. Smith is one of the top institutions for higher learning in the country and we’ve glad to represent the University on its laurels and expanding reputation.”

Three Johnson C. Smith University male track and field student-athletes were named to the men’s 2010 Division II All-Academic Track & Field team.

The Golden Bulls announced on this year’s team were: junior Andre Collins (Kingston, Jamaica), senior Leford Green (St. Catherine, Jamaica), and junior Richard Harkness (Moncks Corner, SC).
