Virginia State University has announced the hiring of Jason
Jackson as the new Men's & Women's Cross-Country and Track
& Field Head Coach. Jackson takes over a program that placed
third in the 2009 CIAA Cross-Country Championship but won the
Championship in 2008.
Jackson comes to Petersburg after spending the past 4 years at Seton Hall University (South Orange, NJ - Big East Conference - NCAA Div I). He primarily worked with the Sprinters, Hurdlers, Jumpers and Multi Events. During his tenure at "The Hall" Jackson's athletes excelled at both the Conference and NCAA Level.
His athletes have earned over 15 Big East Championship Titles, 6 Penn Relay Championship Watches and 3 NCAA All-American Honors.
A native of Lakewood, New Jersey, the two time Big East Champion (1993 & 1994) earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration ('96), Masters Degree in Corporate Communications('98), and recently completed a Master's Certificate in Sport and Exercise Psychology ('10) all from Seton Hall University.
Prior to his position at Seton Hall he served as the Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Columbia High School (Maplewood, NJ). During his 8-year tenure Jackson's squads produced 9 All Americans, 4 State Champions, 26 County Championship titles, and a total of 4 Sectional and State titles.

I'm looking forward to completing my staff and together becoming a part of the Trojan family both on campus and in the surrounding community. We have some very talented student-athletes on the roster and look to recruit many more in the near future. The VSU Trojans will continue to make their mark in the Conference and at the NCAA level."
Jackson is a USA Track & Field Level II Coach in Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps, Endurance and Combined Events. He served as a NJ USA Track & Field Board of Trustee for the 2009 - 2010 year. A member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc, Jackson and his wife, Miriam, have four sons, Devante, Jason-Lamont, Jordan Luke and Jacob Logan they reside in Chester, VA.
