Alexander Joins Track & Field Coaching Staff at Virginia State

Nadia Alexander joins the Virginia State University athletic staff as the Graduate Assistant Track & Field Throws Coach. Coach Alexander is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, where she received her Bachelor's of Arts degree in General Studies with a concentration in social sciences while competing for the Lady Techsters.
Coach Alexander was a finalist in the shot put at the Commonwealth
Games in India last year while representing Jamaica. She has
compiled a solid resume as a competitor as she was sixth in the
Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games last year, 10th in the
NCAA Outdoors in 2009, 9th in the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil
and a three-time Conference champion for Louisiana Tech. Alexander
still holds the Indoor (16.34m – 53’ 6”) and
Outdoor (16.68m – 54’8”) Shot Put records at
Louisiana Tech.
“I am very excited to have Nadia as a part of the VSU Track & Field Staff. She was an excellent student-athlete and has proven herself as a very talented up and coming coach back home in Jamaica. Her recent international experience brings a great amount of excitement and encouragement to our student-athletes here at VSU. I am confident that our throws program is in great hands with Coach Alexander” added Head Coach Jason-Lamont Jackson.
Coach Alexander, a native of Kingston Jamaica is working towards her Masters Degree in Sports Management at VSU, and lives in Ettrick.
