Saint Augustine’s College Ranked First Regionally

Saint Augustine’s College is the top men’s team in the
Atlantic Region according to the latest NCAA Division II
men’s indoor track and field rankings released Tuesday by the
U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Falcons have stayed at No. 1 since the start of the indoor
season. The Lady Falcons are No. 15 in the women’s regional
poll.
The rankings come two days after the Falcons won the CIAA
men’s indoor title in Hampton, Virginia. CIAA field MVP
Orolando Duffus ranks third nationally in the triple jump at
50-1¾ and CIAA track MVP Josh Edmonds ranks third in the 400
at 47.43.
Edmonds is also a member of the top-ranked 4x400 relay team which
includes Antonio Abney, Jason Boyd and Kelly Fisher. They hold the
fastest time in Division II at 3:09.36. Christopher Copeland ranks
second in the high jump at 7-0½ and Ramon Gittens ranks
second in the 200 at 21.35.
Lincoln (Mo.) took over first place in the national rankings this
week with 179.45 points followed by the Falcons with 164.29 points.
Central Missouri is third with 130.96 points.
The Falcons finished as national indoor runner-ups last season.
They are the defending NCAA outdoor men’s champions.
Grand Valley State is the women’s top-ranked team with 288.32
points. Lincoln (Mo.) is second with 179.71 points and Ashland is
third with 150.36 points. Saint Augustine’s College is 15th
with 44.37 points. Kirsten Bowens of the Lady Falcons is third
nationally in the triple jump at 39-9¾.
