JCSU's LEFORD GREEN ADDS MORE GOLD TO HIS COLLECTION AT THE CAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Green retains title in 400m hurdles

Mayaguez, Puerto Rico – Johnson C. Smith University senior
student-athlete (graduate) Leford Green claimed victory in the
men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 49.03 seconds over the
weekend at the Central American and Caribbean Championships. Green
won this event last year and set a games record (48.47); his time
this year is a season’s best.
Green, the national senior champion, retained his title by edging out Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic (49.41) and Jehue Gordon of Trinidad and Tobago (50.10), who finished second and third, respectively. Local favorite Javier Culson of Puerto Rico could only manage fourth in 50.27. Jamaica's other competitor in the final, Roxroy Cato, ended sixth in 50.38.
Green will now focus his attention to the World Championships to be held in Daegu, South Korea from August 27-September 4, 2011.
