Ettrick, VA (June 13, 2018)- After collecting numerous medals, trophies and recognitions for his outdoor track and field performance, Virginia State University's freshman Allen Blair will travel to Bloomington, Indiana to compete in the 2018 USATF Under 20 Junior Championships on June 15-17. The championship will be hosted by Indiana University at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex.
Blair will be entering the championship looking to secure a top spot in the 200m dash event. During the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship on May 5-6, Blair secured a second place finish in the 200m with a time of 21.06. In the Atlantic region, he tied for first place with a time of 20.82, which was set at the Mount Olive Final Qualifier on May 13. Blair's career best time of 20.82 ranked him 5th on the NCAA DII Qualifiers list and automatically qualified him to compete in the USATF Championship. The automatic qualifying time is 21.44 or better.
Working hard on the track and in the gym, Blair is preparing for this monumental championship. If he secures a spot on the USATF Under 20 Juniors team, he will travel to Tampere, Finland on July 10-15 to compete on an international level in the 200m dash event at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships.
The first round of the USATF Under 20 Junior 200m dash event will begin at 7:05pm on June 16, followed by the final round on June 17 at 4:25pm.
