CIAA Announces 2007 Volleyball
All-Conference, Rookie Teams
and Players of the Year

Hampton, VA... The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association celebrates the 2007 selections for All-CIAA Volleyball Team, All-CIAA Rookie Team and Players of the Year.
Chekimbrell Jefferson of Fayetteville State University, a 6-2, Middle Hitter and sophomore Psychology major from Laurel Hill, NC is the 2007 CIAA Volleyball Player of the Year. Jefferson leads the CIAA, averaging 4.23 kills per game and tops all others with a .388 hitting percentage. Chekimbrell aided the Lady Broncos to their Western Division Title and an undefeated season against CIAA opponents.
Bowie State University Lady Bulldog, Bethany Sloat, has been selected as the 2007 CIAA Rookie of the Year. Sloat, a Pedology major, hails from Baltimore, MD and ranks 4th in the conference in kills with 273 (3.20pg). Sloat leads Bowie State into the championship tournament at the third seed.
The 2007 All-CIAA Team and All-CIAA Rookie Teams are listed below. Both teams are selected by the CIAA Volleyball Coaches Association and will be honored at the Volleyball Championship Luncheon at Grimes Hall on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, NC on Wednesday, November 7, 2006 at 11:30 am.
