NCCU's Robinson Voted WBCA Regional Coach of the Year

ATLANTA -- North Carolina Central University head women's
basketball coach Joli Robinson has be selected as the 2006 RUSSELL
ATHLETIC/WBCA NCAA Division II Regional Coach of the Year as
announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
Robinson is now one of eight finalists for the RUSSELL
ATHLETIC/WBCA NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year award,
which will be presented at a luncheon on Tuesday, April 4 in
Boston.
Robinson, who just finished her 10th season as the leader of
NCCU's women's basketball program, guided the Lady Eagles' to their
third best season in school history with an overall record of 23-7.
The Lady Eagles also opened the season by posting a school-best
11-1 record and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II
South Atlantic Regional Championships, advancing to the regional
semifinals before losing to the eventual champion.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., Robinson also received WBCA Regional
Coach of the Year honors in 2001, after leading the Lady Eagles to
a school record 25 victories. She has won more than twice as many
games as any other NCCU women's basketball coach with a record of
155-129.
Founded in 1981, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association
promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to
develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and
promote the development of the game in all of its aspects as an
