Women’s Player of the Week
Celeste Trahan–Elizabeth City State University,
6’2”, SO, Center, Stockton, CA
Trahan, who has 31 career double-doubles, averaged 20.3
points, 19 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 2.3 steals as the Lady Vikings
went 3-0 this week. Her best performance of the week came in the
Lady Vikings’ 88-73 win over Saint Augustine’s. In that
game, Trahan collected a game-high 26 points, 16 rebounds and four
steals.
Rookie of the Week
Chelsea Jeter–Fayetteville State University,
5’8”, FR, Guard, Baltimore, MD
Jeter averaged 12.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and one assist
in three games for the Lady Broncos this week. Jeter tallied 16
points and 11 rebounds in a road loss at Elizabeth City State in
her best performance of the week.
Coach of the Week
Jacques Curtis-Shaw University
With their early season struggles behind them, Coach Curtis and the
Lady Bears have quietly put together a nine-game winning streak and
are rounding into form heading into the meat of the CIAA schedule.
The defending conference champs picked up wins over Virginia State,
Winston-Salem State and Saint Augustine’s this week to
improve to 12-4 and 6-0 in the CIAA.
