BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Elizabeth City State University senior Celeste Trahan has been named the 2008 Women's Division II Bulletin Player of the Year, the publication announced today in its April issue.
Trahan led the nation in scoring (23.7 ppg) and rebounding (15.9) and was in the top 25 in blocked shots (2.1 bpg). She was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association MVP and also became the first Division II women's player in history to reach 2,000 career points and 1,500 rebounds.
"Statistically, Celeste dominated on both ends of the court and was practically unstoppable this season," said WDIIB editor Gary Rubin. "There were many outstanding candidates for this award but Celeste really stood out. She is most deserving."
Trahan headlines the 2008 WDIIB All-American team, where she was joined on the first team by Hillsdale's Katie Cezat, West Texas A&M's Emily Brister, Michelle Stueve from Emporia State and Franklin Pierce's Johanna Leedham.
