ECSU APPOINTS INTERIM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
COACH
Carr Reassigned; Alico Dunk Tapped to Lead Lady Viking
Basketball Program

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State Athletic Department
announces the appointment of Alico Dunk as the Interim Head Coach
of the Women's Basketball program.
Alico Dunk has spent the past six seasons as the assistant coach
for the ECSU men's basketball team. Previously he served as the
assistant coach for the boys' varsity basketball team at
Ayden-Grifton High School (2000-2001) and as the head coach for the
varsity girls' basketball team at Hertford County High School in
Ahoskie, NC (2001-2002). A native of Ayden, NC, he played one
season at the University of Tennessee (1994-1995) before returning
closer to home to finish his studies and collegiate career for the
East Carolina University Pirates (1996-1999) where he served as a
captain for his junior and senior seasons. Dunk obtained a Bachelor
of Sciences degree in Exercise and Sports Sciences from ECU in 1999
and played professionally oversees in Asia from 2002-2003.
He replaces Antionette Carr who just completed her second season at
ECSU. Carr, who will remain as a lecturer in the Department of
Physical Education at the University, compiled an 18-38 record in
two seasons at the helm of the Lady Viking basketball program. The
Lady Vikings lost in the first round of the CIAA tournament the
past two years.
"It was felt that it was time for the women's basketball program to
move in a different direction," said ECSU Athletic Director Thurlis
Little. "We appreciate Coach Carr for her service to Elizabeth City
State University and wish her the best in her future endeavors."
