Prior to taking the reins of the intramural program at A&T, Griffin served as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Winston-Salem State.  She also has coaching experience at the high school and AAU level, including a stint coaching the renowned Peach State (GA) Elite Girl’s Basketball team.

Griffin played collegiately at both Fort Valley State and Armstrong Atlantic State, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.  She also played volleyball while at Fort Valley State.

“It is a thrill to be part of a women’s basketball program that has been as prominent as Shaw’s,” Griffin said.

The Lady Bears finished the 2009-2010 season 16-12 overall and 10-10 in the CIAA.  They were ousted in the second round of the CIAA Tournament.

Shaw will open the 2010-2011 campaign on November 27 when they host Belmont Abbey at 2:00 p.m.  All Lady Bear home games are held in C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium on the Shaw campus.
