Kern Steps Down As Lincoln Women's Basketball Coach

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Jessica Kern has resigned as Lincoln Women’s Basketball coach to accept an assistant coaching position on the Division I Furman University women’s basketball staff in Greenville, SC.

The Lady Lions went 54-65 during Kern’s four-year tenure, but had a historical 2014-15 season becoming the winningest women's basketball team in Lincoln history with 22 wins in a single season. Lincoln entered the 2015 CIAA Basketball Tournament seeded #1 in the CIAA Northern Division for the first time ever with an 11-5 CIAA record. Lincoln powered past Virginia Union in the quarterfinals round and then upset Livingstone in the semifinals to appear in their first ever Division II championship game.

She was also was named the 2015 CIAA Women's Basketball Coach of the Year after guiding her team to an overall 22-9 record and the Co-Northern Division title. Kern’s teams also showed consistent improvement in the classroom. The women’s basketball team’s grade point average and graduation rates increased in each of the four seasons she headed the program.

The athletic department and Lincoln University thanks coach Kern for her service and wishes her well in her new position.
