CIAA Women's Basketball Players and Coach of the Week

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ashle Freeman, Virginia Union
(Sr, G - Richmond, VA, #4)

Freeman set a school record with 12 steals against North Georgia on December 6.  For the week, she averaged 24.0 points per game shooting nearly 50% from the field while averaging 37 minutes per contest.
 

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK

Precious Roberts, Livingstone
(Sr, F - Fernandina Beach, FL, #22)

Roberts led her team to a 74-73 win Saturday over USC Aiken. She scored 22 points in the game, 15 of them in the second half including a game-winning three-pointer with 1 second left on the clock.  For the week, she averaged 18 points per contest.  

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Tiana Edwards, Winston-Salem State
(Fr, G - Wilmington, N.C. , #15)

Edwards continued to be a solid scorer for the Lady Rams this week. She scored 12 points at Francis Marion where she hit four three-pointers in the game. For the week, she averaged 7.5 points per contest.
 

CO-COACH OF THE WEEK

Anita Howard , Livingstone College

Coach Howard led her team to wins over USC Aiken and crosstown rival Catawba in a week that saw the Lady Blue Bears extend their record to 7-0.

CO-COACH OF THE WEEK

Stephen Joyner, Jr., Johnson C. Smith University

Coach Joyner, Jr. guided the JCSU women's team to a 67-60 win over a previously unbeaten Georgia Southwestern team. The JCSU women are 6-1 on the season, their best start since 2011-12
