Shaw And Fayetteville State Sit In Driver’s Seat In CIAA Women’s Tennis Championships

April 19, 2006

PETERSBURG, VA - After the conclusion of two, very little has changed as the Shaw University Lady Bears and the Fayetteville State University Lady Broncos will have the chance to meet in every women’s tennis championship in all six flights in women’s singles action from the 2006 CIAA Women’s Tennis Championships from the campus of Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA.

The Lady Bears and Lady Broncos met in all three championship matches in doubles action on Wednesday and will likely meet in all six singles championships on Friday.

After the first day of competition, the Lady Bears had earned 23 points with Fayetteville State close behind with 22.  Scoring has changed ever-so-slightly headed into Friday as neither the Lady Broncos or Lady Bears recorded points as their matches are ongoing.

All eight women’s tennis teams return to action on Friday morning at 8:00 AM as the singles competition concludes throughout the afternoon.
