BLOOMSBURG ENDS LADY TROJANS' TENNIS RUN

Virginia State University's women's tennis team saw the 2009 season end as Bloomsburg University stopped the Lady Trojans 5-0 in the semi-finals of the NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament on Thursday (May 7) in Bloomsburg, Pa.
Bloomsburg's Katie Hasyn stopped VSU's Imani James at number-one singles 6-1, 6-3 and BU's Laura Sullivan downed VSU's Kendra Plummer at number-three singles 6-0, 6-1.
The Bloomsburg doubles team of Alican Carney and Emily Palko stopped James and Keisha Holmes at number-one doubles by the score of 8-2.
Haslyn and Kristen Bonito of Bloomsburg defeated Plummer and Tamilia Hicks 8-1 at number-two doubles, and Sullivan and Andrea Malatesta downed VSU's Lakevia Ingram and Ashley Foster at number-three singles 8-5.
The rest of the matches went unfinished because of the 5-0 score.
Bloomsburg advances to play Slippery Rock State University, who downed Kutztown University 5-0 in the other semi-final match on Friday.
VSU finishes the season with an overall record of 15-5. Bloomsburg is 14-5.
