Charlotte, NC - Johnson C. Smith University senior women’s
tennis student-athlete Rolanda Sue has been named the 2011
“Excellence in Leadership” Award recipient. The
“Excellence in Leadership” Award is presented by the
U.S. Marine Corps and recognizes a deserving JCSU student-athlete
for their achievements in the area of academics, community service,
and sports leadership.
Rolanda Sue will be presented with the award during the pre-game
ceremonies of the homecoming contest. Sue currently holds the crown
as the 2011-12 Miss Johnson C. Smith University. She is also
captain of the women’s tennis team and president of the
Student-Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) at JCSU. She and her
family migrated to the Charlotte in 2001 from Georgetown,
Guyana.
Since arriving at Johnson C. Smith in 2008, Sue has been on the
Dean’s List her entire collegiate career. She is involved in
various organizations; including the National Society of Black

destination.”
