Two Lady Falcons Make Wingate All-Tournament Team

WINGATE, N.C. – Middle blocker Stephony Newkirk (Jr./Greenville, N.C.) and setter Roxanne Smith (So./St. Catherine, Jamaica) of Saint Augustine’s College were named to the 2009 Wingate Classic All-Tournament Team on Saturday (Sept. 5).

Newkirk had 23 kills and Smith amassed 73 assists in four matches for the Lady Falcons, who lost 3-0 to both Wingate and Anderson (S.C) on Saturday at Wingate University. Wingate won 25-9, 25-11, 25-18 and Anderson won 25-19, 25-18, 25-17.

The Lady Falcons (0-8 overall) host Saint Paul’s College on Wednesday (Sept. 9) in their home opener. The match starts at 6:00 p.m. at Emery Gymnasium.
