CIAA Volleyball 2009: All-Conference and All-Rookie Team Selections

Hampton, VA... The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association is proud to announce the 2009 All-CIAA and All-CIAA Rookie Teams as selected by the CIAA Volleyball Coaches Association.
Chekimbrell Jefferson of Fayetteville State University continues her three-year reign as the 2009 CIAA Volleyball Player of the Year. This season, Chekimbrell (Middle Hitter/Blocker) ranks amongst the top of the conference in hitting percentage, .342 and kills 214; 2.85 avg. Jefferson first won CIAA Player of the Year in 2007.
Jefferson is joined by Chowan University's Karina Monroe our 2009 CIAA Rookie of the Year. Monroe (Middle Hitter/Blocker), ranks second in the conference in kills with 329; 3.07 avg., third in the CIAA in hitting percentage, .333 and eighth in blocks with 62; .58 per set. This is Chowan's first year as an official CIAA conference member.

The CIAA Player and Rookie of the Year and respective teams will be honored at the Volleyball Championship Banquet held at the Newport News Marriott at the City Center, Newport News, VA on Thursday, November 5, 2009; 12:30pm.
