Top Seeded Clarion Drops Chowan in Straight Sets

EDINBORO, PA - The Chowan University volleyball team's season came to an end this afternoon after top seeded Clarion University (30-4) bested the Hawks 3-0. The Eagles out hit the Hawks 48 to 22 in the match, including putting down kills at a .438 clip in the match. Chowan (22-13) jumped on Clarion early in the first set with a 5-2 lead but Clarion bounced back to take that set and the next two with ease. Clarion advances to the semi-finals where they will take on #4 Wheeling Jesuit University.
Chowan fell with final set scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-15. Victoria Lewis led Chowan with eight kills while Karina Monroe came in with five kills. Callie Armistead collected 18 assists in the match.
For Clarion, ten different players recorded kills, led by Kaitlyn Anderson and Hannah Heeter who both had nine kills.
