LADY EAGLES PLACE 23RD AT NCAA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP NCCU

First HBCU to Compete at NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Championship

PENSACOLA, FLA. -- North Carolina Central University finished 23rd out of 24 teams at the 2006 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country National Championship on Saturday (Nov. 18) in Pensacola, Fla., yet made history by becoming the first historically black institution to compete at the national championship event.

CIAA Runner of the Year freshman Ashley Cooke (Hampton, Va.) led the Lady Eagles by placing 103rd (22:56.4).
